Your subscription does the work
Agents run through the Claude Code or Codex tools you have installed and signed in to. No API keys, and no OpenHelm credits used.
Local, if you want it
Keep everything in a database on your Mac, and pair it with a local model through Ollama so nothing leaves the machine.
Or an executor for the cloud
Sign in to your cloud workspace and your Mac picks up its runs, so your own plan does the work your team schedules.
Background, on a schedule
Jobs run while you work or sleep. Hung runs are timed out, usage limits are waited out, and failures say why.
Checked, not trusted
A separate evaluator judges each run against its outcome, from the record of what the agent actually did.

Questions
Is the desktop app free?
Yes. In local mode, with your own subscription or a local model, there is no OpenHelm bill. Paid plans are for the cloud workspace and teams.
Does it need Claude Code?
It needs one way to run agents: Claude Code, Codex, or a local model through Ollama. The app checks what you have and tells you if something is missing or signed out.
Is OpenHelm made by Anthropic?
No. OpenHelm is independent and not affiliated with Anthropic, Claude Code, OpenAI or Codex.
Does my Mac need to stay awake?
Scheduled jobs run while the Mac is awake. For work that must run around the clock, use the cloud workspace.
